Can Vassanji make it a hat trick this time?

After a one-year hiccup, the tradition is continuing at the Scotiabank Giller Prize.

Tuesday, the three-member jury for the 2007 edition of Canada's premier English fiction award named its short list of five contenders for the $40,000 top prize, and it largely harks back to lists of Gillers past in its recognition of both established writers and large-sized publishers.
