Play, pause, rewind, stop the momentum

The movie Vantage Point is an assassination thriller with its trigger finger on the rewind button. Set in the red-roof-topped city of Salamanca, Spain, the movie begins in a town square at the start of an international summit on counterterrorism. After the town's mayor delivers his welcoming speech to a vast crowd, the fictional U.S. President (William Hurt) steps up to the podium, presenting a large, public target.

Shots ring out, and in the midst of the mayhem, a bomb explodes, killing dozens of people. What happened? Wait and see — again and again, and again — as each recurrent view from a different witness extends the plot and strains our credibility a little bit more.
