Home invasion victim has surgery to reattach fingers

One victim of an Aurora home invasion is recovering from a successful surgery to reattach two fingers severed during a struggle with the invaders and the other is facing charges for possession of marijuana.

The woman lost two fingers on her right hand after becoming involved in an altercation with two armed men who broke into her basement apartment in the Murray Dr. and Richardson Dr. area of Aurora, just west of Yonge St., Monday night, said Const. Marina Orlovski, media relations officer for York Regional Police.

The 26-year-old man also home at the time did not sustain any injuries during the attack.

When police arrived on scene they found a bag of marijuana and returned to the home with warrants yesterday.

During the investigation, police seized a large amount of marijuana, said Orlovski.

Jonathan Rodrigue, 26, of Aurora has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.

He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court July 23.
