Police spent the day yesterday collecting evidence from a downtown Halifax schoolyard where a man was found stabbed to death in the early hours of the morning.
The 65-year-old man, who was known to police, was found dead on a pathway just north of St. Patrick’s-Alexandra Elementary school on Maitland Street. Passersby walking home through the area alerted police to the body around 3:30 a.m.
Police confirmed mid-morning that the man had been stabbed to death in the early hours yesterday following an autopsy.
Const. Tanya Chambers with the Halifax Regional Police said investigators first on the scene suspected foul play.
