SpectrumWatch: Round 16 results - Crossing the $2-billion mark

Another threshold has been crossed in Industry Canada's spectrum auction with more than $2-billion in bidding raised for more than 290 licences across Canada.

As it stands the government is set to receive $2,084,035,320 with no more than nine companies bidding more than $180-million (in standing high and current bids) for spectrum licences in the last round. To put it in perspective, less than a few days ago, the auction had raised more than $1-billion in bids.

However, there are signs that the aggressive bidding strategies employed by the 21 companies involved in the auction is slowing down with total revenue growth over the fifth day of bidding down from 42.6% to 29.8%.
