A fall election for all the marbles

Mr. Harper, if you want an election, call it. Federal politics would benefit from a courtesy flush. Just don't keep whining because your weak opponents haven't ganged up to kick you out of office.

For a guy whose leadership style is reminiscent of an old-fashioned Third World strongman, Prime Minister Stephen Harper has looked ridiculously weak as he has tried to goad Liberal leader St├ęphane Dion into provoking an election. It's not every day you see a person who calls himself a national leader complaining because his government hasn't been defeated yet.

With his tax-increasing Green Shift policy, Dion has already done the equivalent of dousing himself in gasoline. Can't Harper provide the match?
