EADS founder tipped to lead Alcatel

PARIS -- A former top executive at Airbus parent EADS, Philippe Camus, is a leading candidate to replace Serge Tchuruk as non-executive chairman of Alcatel-Lucent, the French weekly Journal du Dimanche reported yesterday.

Mr. Camus, a senior partner at French media group Lagardère SCA, would serve alongside New Zealand-born Mike Quigley, who is tipped by media and financial markets to become chief executive officer at Alcatel-Lucent, the newspaper reported.

Contacted in the United States, Mr. Camus declined to comment.

The newspaper said he would likely keep his role at Lagardère where he spearheads its U.S. strategy.
