Montreal photographer Lynne Cohen and Vancouver's Jin-me Yoon will compete for the $50,000 Grange Prize with two photographers from Mexico City.
Federico Gama and Marco Antonio Cruz are the Mexican candidates — contemporary photographers from a different region of the world compete annually with Canadian artists for the prize.
The works of all four photographers can be seen online starting Monday and will appear in a special exhibition at the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto starting April 1. The public selects the winners.
Cohen, who won the Governor General's Award in Visual Arts and Media Arts in 2005, photographs eerie interiors in men's clubs, classrooms, spas, military installations and laboratories.
